Once healed, dental implants act as a base to anchor the visible portion of the artificial tooth – ranging from individual crowns, multi-tooth bridges, or full-arch dental prostheses.
What is osseointegration?
Osseointegration refers to a direct structural and functional connection between ordered, living bone and the surface of a load-carrying implant. Currently, an implant is considered as osseointegrated when there is no progressive relative movement between the implant and the bone with which it has direct contact.
What is implant work?
Implants are used to fix crowns and bridges or its a prosthesis that replaces one or more missing teeth. The goal is improving your health, chewing performance and beauty appearances.
What are the treatment options for replacing a tooth?
There are several options to replace a tooth. But not all of them include implants.
A-The implant can be placed in the empty space of the missing teeth, and the crown is fixed on the implant.
B-Depending on the condition of the two adjoining teeth, they can be prepared for bridging. This bridge adheres to the adjacent tooth and replaces the missing teeth.
C-Tooth with removable prosthesis can also be replaced. This will only happen when other teeth are replaced in your mouth using a removable prosthesis.
What are the treatment options for replacing two teeth or more?
There are several options for replacing two teeth or more. But not all of them include implants.
A-The implant can be placed in the area where the teeth are missing. Single crown or a bridge can be fixed on the implants.
B-Compared to the remaining teeth and their distribution they can be prepared for bridging. This bridge adheres to the adjacent teeth and replaces the missing teeth.
C-The teeth on the movable prosthesis can also be an option to replace the missing teeth adjacent to it. However, wearing them is not comfortable and they are not fixed in the mouth.A bridge is not suitable for someone who has lost a lot of teeth.Instead, the implant can be used to support both, the fixed bridge and the moving prosthesis.
